The Black Hill Farm

One August evening, a van rumbles down a country road, snaking its way through the rural Welsh scenery. Suddenly it comes to a sputtering halt.

The driver steers the vehicle into a lay-by and the passengers discover the radiator has a leak. There is no way they'll get to the nearest garage without a top up of water. Luckily, disguised by the overgrown hedgerow is a gate. The sign reads "Black Hill Farm".

Maybe they'll find water somewhere on the abandoned property. Or maybe they'll become another victim of the farm's dark past...

The Black Hill Farm is a one-shot adventure written for use with the Liminal Horror system by Goblin Archives, although it could be adapted easily for almost any system.

The premise involves the player characters exploring an abandoned farm, looking for water so they can get their van back on the road. Once they step foot on the farm however, they cannot leave. From within the farmhouse, something calls to them, and eventually their investigation leads them to a terrifying encounter with the creature which stalks the non-euclidean halls of the second floor. The players are free to leave once they uncover the horrors committed at the Black Hill Farm and free the troubled spirits within.

This one-shot focuses on mystery with some simple puzzles and no combat, (although you could easily add some in if you wanted). Perfect for a facilitator who loves to build atmosphere and let players scare themselves!

The PDF contains a map of the farm, descriptions of the locations, roll tables for items and events, a maze puzzle, two custom resonant artefacts (or artifacts, I'm Welsh) and some cool illustrations (if I do say so myself).

The printable zine PDF contains the same pages as the PDF but arranged in a way which allows printing with the intention of folding into a A6 zine. You may also have some luck printing it on US Letter size paper and trimming it down.

The .zip contains an image of the journal page to share with players and a high-res image of the monster.
